Bakewell Tart
Description
The traditional dessert, with a vegan option for the recipe.
Ingredients
- 8oz pastry (made with adding 4 tsp castor to the ingredients.optional)
- Blackcurrant or strawberry jam
- 2 eggs or 2tsp egg replcer+4tbs water
- 4 oz brown sugar
- ½ tsp almond essence
- 4oz margarine (dairy free)
- 5oz ground almonds
- flaked almonds for topping
Method
- Line a 9.5" flan dish with pastry spread jam in a thin layer over it
- Cream margarine and sugar, add egg or egg replacer and almond essence, beat well and then fold in ground almonds
- Place mixture on top of jam and spread evenly sprinkle flaked almonds on top
